LONDON, Thursday - Lancashire went second in the One-Day Cup North Group with a 30-run win over Derbyshire in a rain-shortened match on Thursday.
Play at Old Trafford got under way two hours late and the hosts made 239-6 in their allocated 38 overs. England opener Keaton Jennings starred with 84, while Australian debutant Jake Lehmann made 77 not out.
Derbyshire stumbled to 122-6 in their pursuit of 240, with two run outs not helping the cause, as only Anuj Dal’s 52 helped them finish on 209-7.
Sussex looked on course to chase a testing 356 thanks to a record sixth-wicket partnership of 232 between David Wiese (171) and captain Ben Brown (64). But they lost 5-11 in the closing overs as Mason Crane (3-55) and Kyle Abbott (3-64) helped dismiss them for 346.
Centuries from Tom Alsop (124) and Aiden Markram (130) in a 184-run stand earlier helped Hampshire post 355-5.
Surrey’s woeful One-Day Cup form continued as they were handed a sixth defeat in seven games by Kent.
After choosing to bat, the hosts were bowled out for 127 at The Oval with Daniel Bell-Drummond (2-22) and Matt Renshaw (2-17) taking their first-ever wickets in 50-over cricket. Dean Elgar was the only batsman to stay at the crease for a significant time, top-scoring with 62 not out. Kent reached the target of 128 in 28 overs to collect their first win.
