Future Stars U-16 team shines bright in Malaysia

The champion Future Stars under-16 team and under-14 teams with coaches and officials

Future Stars cricket team of Kandy won the Under 16 Championship at the International Junior Cricket Tournament held at the Kinrara Oval, Malaysia from 17th to 20th April. The tournament was organized by the Malaysian Cricket Association.

This Future Stars cricket team has been participating in this T20 cricket tournament since 2013 and they have won on several occasions. The achievements are as follows: In 2013 the Future stars cricket team won the Under 14 cricket tournament and in 2014 won the Under 17 championship.

In 2015 they won the Under 15 championship and became runner-up in the Under 12 age category in the same year. In 2016 they won the Under 14 championship and became runner-up in the Under 16 age category.

In 2017 they won the Under 17 championship.

The champion under-16 team included M. Rukshan, D. Illukpitiya, P. Ratnayake, I. Jinasena, A. Nazeemdeen, D. Gamaarachchi, C. Ekanayake, Abdul Faiz, Mohammed Nilhan, I.Bandara, R. Ranasinghe.

The team is coached by Level II coach, Senaka Dissanayake assisted by Sampath Silva, Level I coach and the Team Manager is Rajantha Dissanayake.

Special Awards:

Under 14 Best Batsman of the tournament - Kulindu Perera.

Under 16 Best Batsman of the tournament – Unshan Bandara
