Thurstan College’s rugby will be powered by HNB Finance for the second consecutive year with the support of Thurstan College Trust fund and the Thurstan College School Development Society in association with the Senior and the Junior Old Boy’s Union’s along with many batches and groups young and old.
The ever demanding financial burden is a tough task for a government school to handle but Thurstanites are confident to make an impact among the leading rugby playing schools in the country this year.
Thurstan fields a strong team in 2019 and is determined to perform well to earn its place in the Segment 1 Division A. Former Thomian ruggerite Rohitha Rajapaksa is assisting the Thurstanites as the Rugby Consultant and former Thurstanite Sasanka Ariyaratne who captained in 2007 and played for CR & FC and presently for CH & FC is the coach and the trainer.
Thurstan are determined to be force to reckon with and commenced their season with a match against C.W.W. Kannangara at Thurstan College grounds yesterday.
The rest of the fixtures for the season are: v Dharmaraja College, Kandy at Pallekele grounds on 9 March, v St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy at Pallekele grounds on 18 March, v Vidyartha College at Thurstan College grounds on 25 March.
