Police sink Navy 26-17

Police sports club scored a hard fought 26 points (3 tries, 1 conversion, 3 penalties) to 17 (2 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) win over spirited Navy Sports Club outfit in their Dialog ‘A’ Division inter club league rugby tournament second round match played at Navy grounds in Welisara yesterday.

Police led 17 points to 10 at half time.

For the winning Police Sports Club three tries were scored by second row forward Mohan Wimalaratne (one), Fijian fly half Emosi Vunivoza (one) and number eight Mummar Deen (one) apiece with full back Janik Chandimal slotted in one conversion and three penalties.

Losing Navy Sports Club team’s two tries were scored by prop forward Viraj Kolabearachchi (one) and second row forward Nirosh Perera (one) while the two conversions and the solitary penalty were fired across by full back Chathura Seneviratne. Japane Referee Kawahara had a very good game with the whistle.
