Colombo Football Club confront Transport United, Bhutan today

The AFC Cup First leg match between Colombo Football Club and Transport United FC Bhutan is to kick off at 3.30 p.m. today at the Race Course International stadium. Colombo Football Club’s skipper Rawmi Mohideen is a doubtful starter for today’s game due to an injury suffered during a Dialog Champions game last week. Charitha Ratnayake will lead the side today in the first leg.

Mohideen is expected to be fit for the second game scheduled to be played in Bhutan on 27 of February. He will be a member of the tour squad and will leave the island on 25th along with the squad. These details were disclosed to the Media yesterday at the pre-match press briefing at the FFSL auditorium by tour Manager Saif Yusoof.

The head coach Ruwan Priyantha of the Colombo Football Club stated that the team is in peak form and is sure to deliver the goods to make it a good start before the next game. We need to score heavily in this game to keep our hopes alive before going into the the second leg which we have to play under different climatic conditions for which our players are not accustomed as the temperature in Bhutan is very low at present, said the Coach.

Bhutan’s Ngawang Dhendup said that this is the first time that many of his team members are playing here which is really a challenge for his team.

They arrived in the island only a day before the match and it is a very difficult task to get used to the conditions here under very hot conditions. But I expect the boys to do their best to win the first leg and to return home to face the next stage with confidence on home soil said the coach. .

Colombo Football Club’s acting skipper too is of the view that as we are accustomed to our Climatic conditions we are capable of achieving a win in today’s game. With all members of the team in peak form I am confident that they will play as a team to bring a good result for Sri Lanka.

United Arab’s Mohmmad oF AFC panel Match Commissioner SHA Alhattawi has arrived in the island to be the match Commissioner for today’s match.
