Uchitha Ranasinghe produced two outstanding Rounds of 67 and 66, total 9 under par, 12 strokes clear of the second placed qualifier, clearly the best Qualifying Round scores ever returned in the Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship history.
Twenty two year old, Uchitha Akash Ranasinghe, son of R A Anura Rohana leading Sri Lankan Professional Golfer on the PGTI and Asian Tour, made a clean sweep of all the individual trophies on offer in the two Qualifying Rounds of the 131st Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship, when he won the Victoria Cup best individual Gross score in Round 1, Illankoon Cup best individual Nett Score in Round 1, Pin Fernando Trophy for his 66 Gross in Round 2, the Sri Lanka Golf Union Trophy for the best individual Nett score in the second round and the best aggregate score of 133 for the two rounds.
The Cut-off of the Top 32 players to advance into the Match-Play knock-out stage was administered at 168. Uchitha Akash earned Top Rank #1, whilst J MD Indika with 145, G M Pradeep Kumara 146 and B A Sanjeewa 147 were Ranked 2, 3, 4 respectively. 130th Amateur Champion ship Runner-up G P Sisira Kumara with an aggregate of 152 was ranked 12 and meets RCGC Club Champion Sachin De Silva in the 1st Round of the knock-out stage, in the top half of the draw.
Top Seed Uchitha Ranasinghe meets Gehan Siribaddana, whilst 2nd Seeded J M D indika plays RCGC Vice Captain W A K Fernando. 3rd seeded Pradeep Kumara plays T Jayaseelan (SLAF) and B A Sanjeewa meets young S. Dhuwarshan from Nuwara Eliya Golf Club.
The Pakistani and Indian challenge appear strong with qualifying rankings of 6, 8, 9 and 10.
The Sri Lanka Ladies Amateur Golf Championship sponsors continental- the Future In Motion and Look Amazing Pvt Ltd - LUSH Medical Aesthetic and skin clinique, provided some exciting Golf with Taniya Minel Balasuriya shooting Gross 2 under par 70, 11 strokes clear of Kayla Perera(81) and the Pakistani duo of Zaib Un Nisa (83), Suneya Osama (85).
