Madushan props up Moratu Vidyalaya

A patient knock of 100 runs by Madushan Dilakshana helped Moratu Vidyalaya to gain a first innings win of 109 runs over Zahira College in their inter school first eleven cricket match and played at Colombo Vidyalians concluded their third term fixtures being played eight and won outright two and two first innings wins and lost three on first innings and one ended in a no decision.

At the end of day one against Zahirians visitors were in a bad way with 100 for 6 with their skipper and chief run getter Nishan Madushka back in the pavilion with 17 runs.

Madushan took the responsibility and batted patiently and had nine fours and occupied the crease for 240 minutes and faced 225 balls and also added a valuable 53 runs for the seventh wicket with Janitha Sewmith who contributed 37 runs.

Batting first Zahirians were all out for 118 runs and Nadith Nishendra had a fine spell of 7 for 34 and in reply Vidyalians were 227 runs and at stumps homesters were in a sound position with 201 for 5 with M Shadulla missing a well deserved century by seven runs and Dilsara Chaminda unbeaten on 51 and the pair put on 96 runs for the third wicket.
