All-rounder Nipun Dananjaya will continue to lead Sri Lanka in the three-match under 19 ODI series against Australia beginning at the P Sara Oval today.
Dananjaya was named captain of the 15-man Sri Lanka squad picked for the series.
Right-handed top order batsman Thaveesha Abishek has earned a maiden call-up to the junior national side, while left-arm pacie Dilshan Madushanka, who has done well for BRC in the recently-concluded Emerging League, has also won a place.
Madushanka, will be vying for a place in the final eleven along with other seamers Lakshan Gamage, Praveen Nimesh and Chamindu Wijesinghe.
Raveen de Silva, a right-arm leg-spinning all-rounder will add the much needed stability to the side.
Under 19 head coach Hashan Tillakaratne said, ‘We are focussing on next year’s Under 19 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in South Africa. Our aim is to build up a good team for it and this type of series is important for the youngsters’.
