Havelock Sports club’s win over fancied CR & FC outfit was the highlight of the four matches played in the Dialog League inter-club rugby tournament last weekend. Havies scored a stunning 31-22 win at CR grounds in Longden Place.
It was the Park club forwards who gave a scintillating display under the leadership of former skipper and National player Dushmantha Priyadarshana. Their three quarters excelled in both attack and defence gaining territorial advantage creating problems among the young CR three quarters who failed to play to their potential due to reasons best known to their coaching staff. Centre ex St.Anthonys Kandy skipper Dinuk Amarasinghe and Co-Centre another Anthonian Iranga Ariyapala played their hearts out for Havelocks. Anyway the young former Peterite star performer cum CR and FC full back Kevin Dixon shocked the entire crowd present with his dazzling runs as well as his footwork.
Prop Liston Flatney, former Royalist winger Chamara Dabare who scored two tries, second row forward ex Peterite Sharo Fernando, scrum half Vimukthi Rahula played a tremendous game for the Park club outfit.

Hero for Kandy outfit was none other than their national centre cum skipper Richard Darmapala who scored two tries.
CH and FC hooker and former Isipathana player Prasath Madushan (who scored two tries) stood out from the rest by creating the opportunities for CH by punching holes at the Kandy defence many a times. But the three quarters didn’t play to their potential, either bundle in to touch or lack support from the other three quarters to finish the move by scoring.
