Second Women T20I abandoned due to rain

The second T20 international between Sri Lanka Women and India Women had to be called off at the Colts CC grounds yesterday due to rain.

India Women, who came into this game with a 1-0 lead over the hosts in the five-match series, won the toss and elected to field.

Sri Lanka were 49 for 3 in 7.5 overs after a delayed start when rain put an end to further play.

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Atapattu and wicket-keeper bat Dilani Manodara (15 n.o.) helped them to recover from losing the first wicket at 10 with a 29-run partnership for the second wicket. Atapattu was in an aggressive mood taking just 16 balls for her 21 with two fours and a six before falling to Deepti Sharma.

Poonam Yadav and Arundhati Reddy also picked up a wicket each in the brief period of play.

The third T20I will be played on Saturday, 22 September, in Colombo.

Scores:

Sri Lanka Women 49-3 in 7.5 overs (Chamari Atapattu 21, Dilani Manodara 15 n.o., Arundhati Reddy 1/12, Deepti Sharma 1/7, Poonam Yadav 1/2) v India Women.
