Banned Chandimal to lead Sri Lanka Emerging team

Banned Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal has been appointed captain to lead the Sri Lanka Emerging team for the three-match unofficial ODI against South Africa Emerging team.

Chandimal is serving a four-match ban where he is sitting out the ongoing five-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and South Africa.

His ban ends with the fourth ODI which commences at Pallekele Stadium today.

Test opener Dimuth Karunaratne also finds a place in the Emerging side as vice captain to Chandimal.

Sri Lanka Emerging and South Africa Emerging will play three unofficial ODIs on August 9 and 11 at Dambulla and August 14 at the SSC.

SRI LANKA EMERGING SQUAD FOR UNOFFICIAL ODIs: Dinesh Chandimal (captain), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dimuth Karunaratne (vice captain), Shammu Ashan, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka, Kamindu Mendis, Nishan Peiris. Shehan Madushanka, Jehan Daniel, Asitha Fernando, Amila Aponso, Jeffrey Vandersay, Binura Fernando, Asela Gunaratne. Standbys: Nisala Tharaka, Chamika Karunaratne, Oshada Fernando.
