Zahira College Maradana rugby team earn a hard fought 19 points (3 tries, 2 conversions) to 17 ( 3 tries, 1 conversion) win over fighting D.S.Senanayake College outfit in their Singer ‘A’ Division inter Schools league rugby match played at Welisara yesterday. The scores were 12 all at half time.
After the scores being deadlock at 12 all in the first half the Zahira boys came up with a sterling display in the second half to outplay their counterparts.
For the winning Zahira team the three tries were scored by Iqbal Shameer (one), Amjad Fawmy (one) and Farhan Shuhaib (one) while the two conversions were fired across by vice captain cum centre Minhaj Samsudeen.
For the losing D.S.Senanayake side the three tries were scored by Hasindu Dinusha (one), Lalanka Wijesundara (one) and captain Chamuka Seshan (one)While Hashindu Dinusha put over the solitary conversion.
