Dharmaraja College edged out D.S. Senanayake College in an inter-school league ‘Plate’ rugby match 14-13 at Nittawela yesterday after trailing 5-0 at half time.
The winning points came off a goal in the dying stages of the game. It was good rugby with superb ball handling from both teams. D.S. boys played well, but had no luck for a win. Dharmaraja’s 14 points came off two goals and the D.S. Senanayake 13 points comprised two tries and a penalty. The defence against rucks from both sides was excellent. D.S. Senanayake whenever they had the ball inhand looked very dangerous. The Rajans held their nerve to win.
