Over 200 entries for million-rupee CMB Senior Badminton Championships

A million-rupee prize bag will be up for grabs at the two-day tournament.

Ceylon Masters Badminton Association (CMBA) confirmed that they had received 218 entries for this year’s CMB Senior Badminton Championships which will be held on June 29-30.

This annual event which will be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium will see 180 shuttlers competing in 38 events.

A million-rupee prize bag will be up for grabs at the two-day tournament which will see the country’s top veteran players competing in eight age groups and three combined age categories.

The age groups are over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 in men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles and men’s and women’s doubles for players of combined age over 100, 110 and 120.

The event is open for all Sri Lankan veteran badminton players as well as the resident visa holders.

This Masters Tournament will culminate with a farewell banquet hosted by the CMBA, on the final day of the event at the 80 Club, Colombo 7, at which the awards ceremony will also take place.

The championship draw will take place on Saturday, June 22 at the CMBA Head Office, starting at 11.00 am. Players will be permitted to attend the draw, and the organizers have also taken steps to broadcast the proceedings live on CMBA’s official Facebook page, fb/ceylonmasters.com
