
St. John’s College Nugegoda emerged as unbeaten group champions in the under 13 division one cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association for the Singer Trophy and have booked a berth in the second round. They achieved this feat after a lapse of seven years and this is due to the untiring efforts of their ever green coach former Vidyalian Sumith Prasanna, the Prefect of Games W. Wijerama and Master in Charge of Cricket Sisira Kumara.
Since the commencement of the tournament they received the guidance and the support of the Cricket loving Principal Buddhika Attanayake and the Deputy Principal D.N. Gurudeniya.
In the first round they participated in seven matches and won four and drew three. They beat De Mazenod College Piliyandala Central, Ananda Sastraylaya Kotte and Seethawaka Vidyalaya. Nugegoda Johnians are captained by Pumal Devranga while his deputy is Lochana Rukshan. Both of them having played in seven matches has claimed 27 and 21 wickets respectively. The highest run getters are Anusha Anusara with 205 and Janith Thilakshana 200 runs with a half century.
