
A fourth year player right hand opening batsman and wickt keeper of the side Dushan Fernando will be captaining the first eleven cricket team of Lumbini Vidyalaya for the year 2018/19 cricket season. His deputy will be Prabath Madushanka.
This season so far Lumbini has played three matches and they drew two matches and lost one outright and they are yet to play thirteen matches including the Big Match with Bandaranayake Vidyalaya Gampaha. This year they are coached by former Ananda Vidyalaya Kottawa Cricketer Yeomal Sanjeeva.
Dushan was admitted to Lumbini Vidyalaya in the year 2006 and at the age of ten In 2011 he was selected to the under 13 cricket team as an opening batsman and the wicket keeper. In the following year too he played for the Under 13 division one team.
In the year 2015 he played for the under 17 division one team and claimed 25 victims behind the stumps and scored over 200 runs. In the following year playing for the same age group as the vice captain he passed the 300 run mark and claimed 30 victims behind the stumps.
His first year in the first eleven was in 2016 under Mohomed Akram and he played only one match following year he played only four matches under Thenuka Dabare and last year he played throughout the season and scored 487 runs and had 45 victims behind the stumps with a top score of 96 against De Mazenod College.
This year he is leading the side and is the wicket keeper and opens batting with Shavinda Prabashana.
So he has played in two Big Matches and two limited over matches and his main ambition is to win the Big Match and the limited over match. His master in Charge is Lasantha Wijeratne and the Principal K. G. Wimalasena is extending all the support for cricket.
He represented Saracens Sports Club and Bloomfield cricket club in the Division three Colombo District Cricket tournament.
