Top half quarters on May 20 at MCA grounds

Janashakthi Insurance, Hirdaramani Group, Palliyaguruge Group and Technomedics International advanced to quarter finals of the second Commercial Credit & Finance PLC. sponsored MCA 'F' division 25 Over League Tournament 2017, continued during last week-end.

The four top half pre quarter finals were worked off on May 13. Hayleys Group 'B' Vs. Janashakthi Insurance: Janashakthi ended the Hayleys Group 'B' unbeaten run when they romped to a 5-wicket win with 3.1 overs to spare. Hayleys went into the match as the top seed with 05 wins in the league stage, but met its 'Waterloo' when they were shackled for a low 118 runs in 25 overs by Dulaj Jayawardena with a fiery spell of bowling, 05-17-05. Janashakthi shed little sweat on reaching their target of 119 runs in 25 overs, as Vindika Nadeera (37) and Ranga Dias (31 in 15 balls, inclusive of 03 sixes and 02 fours) put their foot on the peddle, engaged in a fourth wicket stand of 48 runs in 27 balls.

Hirdaramani’s Vs. WNS Global: valiant half century by Udesh Vilegoda (53), backed up by a crushing spell of bowling by M. Madushanka (4/12/4) helped Hirdaramani Group to register a fine 67 runs win over WNS Global. Hirdaramani batting first were all out 147 in 24.2 overs with T. Herath bagging 04 for 24. WNS Global Shot out for 80 runs 21.2 overs; Chief wrecker, Madushanka was well supported by Udesh Vilogoda (2/8) and K. Aruna (2/13).

Access Group Vs. Palliyaguruge Group: A valuable fourth wicket stand of 55 runs in 58 balls via D. Harishchandra (35) and S. Wijemanne (25) spear headed Palliyaguruge Group to a close 18 runs win overAccess Group.

Prym Intimates Vs. Technomedics International: Wicket keeper/batsman, S.A.D. Indika carried his bat out after scoring an elegant 95 not out in 81 balls, inclusive of 02 sixes and 12 fours, as he lifted Technomedics to a resounding 46 runs win over Prym Intimates.

Batting first, Technomedics put up a formidable total of 183 for 5 in 25 overs, riding on the solid 3rd wicket stand of 135 runs in 110 balls via S.A. D. Indika and skipper Anjana Ushantha (52 in 48 balls, inclusive of 04 fours). Prym Intimates could not manage the varied attack of T. Perera 3/23,

V.Dhananjaya 2/39, D. Priyasad 3/23 and R. Chalanga 2/21, as they fell well short of the target (137 all out in 22.3 overs)

The top half quarter finals to be worked off on May 20 at the MCA Grounds. Janashakthi will meet Hirdaramani in the morning; whilst Palliyaguruge Group will meet Technomedics International in the afternoon.
