Under-19 Division Three Tier ‘A’ Cricket commence today

The quarter finals of the under 19 Inter schools division three tier 'A cricket tournament will commence today(22) after seven months under the newest Health guidelines conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA) with the support of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Eight schools advanced to the quarter finals. All matches will be played at Kotte Ananda Shashtralaya Grounds Beddegana and no spectators are allowed to see the matches.

The 57 school teams participated in the first round into 10 groups. 20 teams advanced to the second round. Quarter finals were postponed due to the current situation in the country last May .

Ibbagamuwa Central College beat Loyola College Negombo by 2 wickets at Ibbagamuwa and Methodist High School Moratuwa beat Ananda Shashthralaya Kotte by 100 runs at Beddagana in the pre quarter finals.

St. Joseph’s College Wattala beat St. Aloysius College Ratnapura by 6 runs at Ratnapura and Rajasinghe Central College Hanwella beat Nalanda Boys College Minuwangoda by 8 wickets at Godigamuwa in the pre quarter finals.

Vidyaloka College Galle beat Badulla Central College by 5 wickets at Galle and Jaffna Central College beat Royal College, Polonnaruwa by 7 wickets at Polonnaruwa in the pre quarter finals.

St. Mary’s College Matugama beat Carey College Colombo by 88 runs at Matugama and C.W.W. Kannangara Central College Matugama beat Ananda Shashthralaya Mathugama by 2 runs at Matugama in the pre quarter finals.

Earlier SLSCA conducted a Limited Overs tournament, which finished last April . St. Joseph’s College won the Division I Tier ‘A’ title, while Mahinda College annexed the Tier ‘B’ championship. The Division II title was won by Sri Sumangala College, Panadura, while its Tier ‘B’ title went to Sri Jayewardenepura MV, Kotte.
