SL Spin-Bowling Coach miss England tour

Piyal Wijetunga and Manoj Abeywickrama

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has once again appointed former national cricketer Piyal Wijetunga as Sri Lanka’s Spin-Bowling Coach.

The 49-year-old former leg-spinner earlier served in the same position from 2008 to 2019. The former schoolboy of St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota played a solitary Test for his country against South Africa in 1993.

However, Wijetunga has not been included in the squad for the tour of England and is expected to begin his duties when the Indian Team tour the island next month. Meanwhile, Manoj Abeywickrama will join the National Team as Fielding Coach for the tour of England.

Sri Lanka's Fielding Coach Shane McDermott has been sidelined for the tour of England and is presently working with the High-Performance Coaching Staff.
