Over 40 Kandy City Veterans Soccer team, has been playing Matches since 2009 and they have played soccer matches all over the Island, including Kandy, Colombo, Jaffna, Hatton, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Puttalam, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Trincomaleee and Gampola. According to the senior team Member C. Kumarasingham, they have played over 150 matches and have won 50 matches so far.
It is sad to note that the players have to bear the all the cost of matches, for traveling and other expenses on their own as they do not have any sponsors for the poor-man’s game of soccer. The soccer players of Kandy are much interested in improving the game in Sri Lanka as there are so many soccer loving fans and players in the Country. Due to the Covid epidemic the Soccer team had to cancel a few matches.
