FIDE Masters Susal de Silva and Minul Doluweera scored 4.5 points each out of a possible nine games at the end of the Asian Continental Hybrid Chess Championship while scoring the highest performance by a Sri Lankan player ever.
Being initially ranked 63rd and 61st according to their current FIDE Ratings, Susal managed to reach the 36th place while Minul finished 42nd in the final rankings.
Susal, who came with less experience, finished in 36th position and was the best among the four Sri Lankans. Meanwhile, Theekshana Denuwan finished just 0.5 points behind Susal and Minul, which included a quick win against an International Master from Kyrgyzstan.
However, the national champion Ranindu Liyanage managed to record only a total of 3.5 points from his outings.
Meanwhile the Grandmaster from Uzbekistan Vokihidov Shamsiddin tied with the Singapore International Master Tin Jingyao for the first place with seven points out of nine games but the former won the Gold Medal with a better tie-breaker.
