Imesha Madushani the athlete turned volleyball player

Fifteen year old up and coming volleyball player and athlete Karunapedige Imesha Madushani has brought honour and fame to her school Wekada Maha Vidyalaya, Dankotuwa. She was born on 17th December 2005 and she was admitted to her neighbouring school Sri Rathnajothi Vidyalaya in 2011 and the then Principal was Mrs. Jessica and her first class teacher was Mrs. Pradeepa and she was there from Grade One to Five. When she was in Grade Three she participated in her school Inter House Annual Sports Meet in the under eight age group and she came first in 50 and 75 metre races and her house team won the skipping team event.

Though she won her events she did not participate in the Inter Divisional Athletic Meet. In the following year she came second in 100 metres and in 2015 she won the under 10 age group and she came first in 100 and 200 metre events and in that year participating in the Inter Schools Divisional Meet she came second in both events.

After joining Wekada Maha Vidyalaya Dankotuwa her parents Priyantha Samansiri and Dammika Priyadarshani encouraged their daughter to take up to volleyball and handed over her to the school Prefect of Games and volleyball coach Saman Bandara and in the following year she played for the under 12 team at the Inter House Volleyball Tournament and impressed and in the following year she was selected to the school under 13 team and represented her school at the Divisional Inter Schools Volleyball Tournament at which her school became runners up and in the Zonal Meet too they came second and in the District Tournament they came second and in the DSI Tournament they were the runners up in 2018.

In 2019 her house came second in the Inter House Volleyball Tournament and their school team were the runners up in the Divisional and District Tournaments.

Participating in the District DSI Tournament they were the runners up for second successive year. In 2020 tournaments were not held due to Covid 19 and her Principal M. Wasantha is always very supportive. of her
