The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) decided to conduct the 99th National Athletic Championships only during weekends commencing from May 22, due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
All track and field events are to be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo. These events are to be held in four stages except for the road events. Athletes who have competed in the last two national level meets and who have reached the qualifying standards to participate at the Nationals will be allowed to compete at this meet.
This meet will serve as the final qualifying round for athletes to make their way for the Olympic Games to be held in Japan this year.
