SL expects result-oriented pitch for deciding Test

Sri Lanka’s Head Coach Mickey Arthur said that his team is expecting a result-oriented pitch in Pallekelle when they take on Bangladesh in the series-deciding second Test match, scheduled to begin on April 29.

The opening Test ended in a high-scoring draw that saw 1,289 runs scored despite the final session of play getting washed off due to rain.

The green top wicket didn’t offer the promised assistance to the pacers nor was there any help for the spinners.

“It’s very flat. Maybe, it was a little bit naive of me in terms of strategy - this is my first Test in Pallekele - in understanding the surface.”

“We wanted to beat Bangladesh with a bit of pace and bounce but it’s just been extremely flat. We’re going to have to reassess that. We’re going to have to look at how we go for that second Test,” he added. (Agencies)
