Sandula clinches Girls Under 14 chess title

Sandula Dahamdi of Musaeus College emerged champions at the second Sri Lanka Youth Girls (Under 14) Chess Grand Prix 2021. Sandula won the first round and had a draw in the second round against her strong opponent Ehsha Pallie (Visakha Vidyalaya) finally won the event without getting a tie.

Throughout the event, both Dahamdi and Ehsha played good chess and performed really well by making the event more competitive. Oneli Vithanawasam won the first round and had a draw in the second round against Desandhi Dhihansa Gamage and obtained the third place of the event. The prestigious second SL Youth Girls Chess Grand Prix 2021 was held recently with 18 leading Girls Under 14 Years Chess players. The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka offered Rs. 55,000 as cash awards for the event.
