Malith Lakshan Kulatunge

Malith Lakshan Kulatunge, a Grade Eleven student of St.Sylvester’s College, Kandy is a left hand front line batsman and a prolific run-getter who scored 123 against St.Joseph Vas College,Wennappuwa and 72 against S. Thomas’ College, Mount-Lavinia at Under 17 level.

Malith was a student of Vijaya Colege,Matale and got admitted to St.Sylvester’s College,Kandy from Under 15 onwards. He learnt the basics of the game from his earlier school Vijaya College under the coaching of Ravi Punchihewa, Senior Cricket Coach. At that time as an Under 13 Cricketer he scored 88 runs against Kegalu Vidyalaya and against Ranabima Royal College, Gannoruwa he bagged 6 wickets for 30 runs as a right arm medium Pace bowler.

In the year 2019 he joined St.Sylvester’s College and played under Osanda Heenkenda and he was coached by Roshan Jayatissa, Old Sylvestrian who is a centurian at School level and also a Level Two Cricket coach. Malith showed a vast improvement especially in batting no sooner he entered St Sylvester’s College at Under 15 age group. He scored 52 not out against Trinity College, Kandy and in the year 2020 he could not do much in cricket due to covid epidemic, but in 2021 cricket season he came out with sterling performance in batting to score a Century against St. Servatius College,Matara at the Under 17 Cricket Tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association. He is thankful to his Cricket Coaches, Prefect of Games, Master-in-charge for their guidance for him to improve the game of Cricket and his ambition is to do his studies well and continue cricket to become a National level Cricketer.
