Yuthila, Jamal cruise to Boys’ U-14 third round

Yuthila Hettiarachchi powered his way in to the third round of the Boys’ Under-14 Singles event at the HNB-Hutch Clay Court Tennis Nationals, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

Hettiarachchi was in tremendous form as he trounced Tarik Sachin de Silva in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Meanwhile, Jamal Sabry also cleared his second round hurdle with a convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory over Mayoon Kubherane.

The results:

Boys’ Under-14 Singles second round: Sandas Usgodaarachch beat Alhan Aslam 6-0, 6-0. Lisal Goonetilleke beat Diharan Vaas 6-2, 6-1. Yuthila Hettiarachchi beat Tarik Sachin de Silva 6-0, 6-0. Mayanka Chanakya Perera beat Minuka Alexander 6-0, 6-1. Karthi Udayachandran beat Sasanja Thisal Kulatillaka 6-0, 6-0. Jamal Sabry beat Mayoon Kubherane 6-3, 6-1. (C.D)
