SL wins Bronze at Asian Chess Meet

Sri Lankan Team Captain Sanudula Dahamdi

Sri Lanka Girls’ ‘A’ Team won the Bronze Medal at the Under-14 Online Asian Nations Cup Chess Teams Championships, which concluded yesterday.

Sri Lanka beat five countries and drew with the winner Mongolia. Unfortunately they lost two consecutive matches to Iran ‘A’ Team and Mongolia ‘A’ Teams in the seventh and eighth rounds.

However they recovered well by winning against Kazakhstan in the last round 3-1 to win the Bronze Medal.

India ‘A’ Team won the Championship convincingly with a score of 15 match points out of possible 18. (D.R)
