Sea Hawks wins 2-1 ending Colombo FC's winning streak

Sea Hawks halted Colombo FC's unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory in their Pre-League soccer tournament at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday. At the short whistle, the winners led 1-0.

After almost 18 minutes of struggle into the first half, Japanese player M. Kaneshiro broke the shackles with a right-footed kick from the edge of the box, outplaying Colombo FC goalie Imran to score a goal.

Both teams fought hard in search of their first goal, but Sea Hawks, with a better game plan, reached success.

The unbeaten Colombo FC team had an off day on the field as they played in patches.

They executed several blind passes at the time of offence that deprived them of many easy scoring chances.

Nevertheless, full credit should go to the winners, who bounced back gallantly while keeping the game under their control to notch up their maiden victory through a power-packed kick off Chatura Ponnamperuma's boot, while a goal on the brink of the full-time whistle through Siraj Jain was to no avail.
