Royal skipper Ahan and Sadisha create all time partnership record

Royal College’s third wicket pair of skipper Ahan Wickremasinghe (210 n.o) and Sadisha Rajapakshe (152 n.o) with an unbroken record 362 run partnership against Trinity College at Reid Avenue in their 128th Royal-Trinity encounter, shattered the previous highest partnership record for any wicket set in 2018 by Josephians Revan Kelly (182) and Nipun Sumanasinghe (156 n.o) of 314 runs for the second wicket.

It took exactly 37 years for Kelly and Sumanasinghe to break the record partnership set by Sumithra Warnakulasuriya (181 n.o) and Ajit Devasurendra 120 (n.o) for the third wicket scoring 304 runs against Trinity college, Kandy at Reid Avenue in 1981.

Incidentally it took 27 years for Warnakulasuriya and Devasurendra to break the record set previously in 1954 of 266 runs for the first wicket by A.C.M Lafir (170) and Ronnie Stephens (80) for St.Anthony’s College Kandy against Trinity College, at Asgiriya, Kandy in their big match.
