Kieran Lawrence came from behind with a fine performance to reach the pre-quarter-finals of the Boys’ Under-16 event on the sixth day of the Hutch-HNB Clay Court Tennis Nationals, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.
Lawrence, after conceding the first set 2-6 to his opponent rallied around magnificently to clinch the last two sets 6-7 (4) and 11-9 against Zaydaan Akbar.

Boys’ Under-16 third round: Amrik Wettimuny beat Morgan Labor 6-0, 6-0. Yuthilla Hettiarachchi beat Nenuka Geeganage 6-3, 4-6, 10-3. Kieran Lawrence beat Zaydaan Akbar 2-6, 6-7 (4), 11-9. Oren De Rose beat Hinath Hettihewa 0-6, 6-2, 10-4. R. Gunawardane beat Revon Yogendhan 6-2, 4-6, 10-5.
