ICBS crowned champions in a thriller

 The victorious Imperial College of Business Studies team celebrates with the trophy.

Imperial College of Business Studies (ICBS) scraped through to a last-ball thriller winning by one wicket, in the Red Bull Campus Cricket Final, yesterday, at the Burgher Recreation Club, grounds Havelock Park beating Central Campus Colombo (CCC).

ICBS was down-and-out at 88 for seven, before nerves and pressure conceded the final to them. The champs were also helped by handy winning contribution from Thiwanka Lakruwan's 39 with five sixes.

Human Resource Management Institute’s CCC, inserted to bat first, had to overcome an early jolt losing opener, Navod Paranavithana very cheaply.

Captain Avishka Perera enjoyed a new lease-of-life on 24, but a blunder of a run-out from his partner, cost his wicket for a skipper’s knock of 47. A collapse since then, had nearly sealed their innings until, courtesy of a Rohan Sanjaya’s unfinished late fireworks of 38, including four sixes took them to a respectable target of 135.
