SLC decides to withhold NOCs for cricketers

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided not to grant No Objection Certificate (NOC) for cricketers to play abroad in any form of tournaments.

SLC arrived at this decision after several Lankan cricketers were enticed to participate in tournaments - especially T-10 and 20 – which are due to commence early in this year.

The National team has a busy domestic cricketing calendar where they will be engaged in back-to-back fixtures, commencing with the England home series, followed by a tour of the Caribbean to play the West Indies in February and March. Due to these heavy schedules SLC has opted not to issue NOCs for players contracted with them, as well as outsiders.

SLC is mainly focusing on the contracted pool of players under their purview due to the bad experience the National team had at the just concluded South Africa tour, where several key players were hampered by injuries, which led them to suffer a humiliating 2-0 defeat at the hands of the hosts.
