Lawyers XI beat Doctors by one wicket

Lawyers XI beat Doctors XI by one wicket in their 13th annual Law-Medical 40 overs cricket encounter played at the SSC recently.

Doctors XI batted first and they were bowled out for 167 runs in 39 overs. Tharindu Kalinga (38), Sudiranga Walpita (37), Rajiv Nirmalasingham (31), Malin Adhikari (18*) and Thilina Samarasinghe (12) helped to build their innings. Kulunu Rodrigo and Akila Jayasundara took two wickets wickets.

Lawyers XI in their run chase reached the target in the 34th over. They scored 171 runs for nine wickets. Akila Jayasundara (36), Kasun Hettiarachchi (36), Ershan Ariyaratnam (30), Pavithra Bolapage (21), Thusitha Ranatunga (12) and Kulunu Rodrigo (11*) helped to build their innings. Heshan Amarathunge took 5 wickets for 36 runs and Rusira Jayathilake took 2 wickets for 28 runs.

Akila Jayasundara of Lawyers XI was adjudged man of the match. The match was played confirming to strict health guide lines with restricted spectators due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

Sri Lankan Cricketer Jehan Mubarak was the chief guest at the awards ceremony.
