Sri Lanka and England have been playing a bilateral cricket series since 1982. On taking a brief look at the England vs Sri Lanka Head to Head statistics, the English team seems to be the better team in the Test format.
They have faced each other 34 times in Test cricket in the past 38 years. However, despite the English team having vast experience in cricket, the Sri Lankan cricket team recorded its first victory against England after 10 years in 1993 at the SSC grounds in Colombo. after having lost to the Englishmen led by Keith Fletcher in the inaugural test at the Sara Stadium in 1982

In the last test series in Sri Lanka in 2018, for the first time England made a clean sweep winning the series 3–0. It was the first time that England had won every Test of a three-match series in Sri Lanka.
In that series England was led by prolific run getter Joe Root while Dinesh Chandimal was the losing Sri Lankan captain in the last series in Sri Lanka.
