SLF to invest in Catapult Analyzing System

National coach Amir Alagic elaborates on the Catapult system.

The Sri Lanka Football Federation (SLFF) is to invest in and introduce a device named ‘Catapult’ commonly used in Europe’s football leagues. This will enable them to track the data for the improvement of players while supporting the coaching network.

Invented and introduced in France it will no doubt provide a world class data tracking system for the improvement of Sri Lankan football players and their coaching support network. This technology captures over 900 data points per second, creating over 1,200 metrics to analyse, compare and use for improvement of a player in all aspects. The device will also provide real-time feedback of the players performance allowing for efficient decision making while being tailor made for training sessions to match performance. This device also replicates match action at training, injury prevention including monitor and recovery of players, analyse physical load of matches and training on players and the all important injury awareness data on players, who fail to reach stipulated physical levels. The real-time positional and physical data analysis will allow the coaches in-match decision making.

Some other benefits include analysis of acceleration and speed combined with change of direction to provide opportunities to improve individual positions, gain insight into players effectiveness in transition to attack and defend, planning and delivering training stimuli that are appropriate to the needs of individuals and team.

Catapult is equipped with insights that optimises the performance of players by gaining tactical insights through video analysis, mapping player recovery and rehabilitation to a position of full health and fitness. Delivering information, Catapult’s insights inform crucial decisions around rehabilitation and helps quantify return to play protocols. Manages training load to minimise risk of athlete breakdown or performance loss. Catapult’s proven systems give coaches the ability to manage training load and identify micro-level changes in an athlete’s performance. SLFF’s analysis team will use this device to follow Super League matches.

Catapult analysis provides features and metrics for Drill Management, Heart Rate, Distance Covered, Sprint Distance, GPS Heat Map, Squad Analysis, Catapult VISION analysis, Top Speed, Sprint Direction, Training Load Management, Live Data.

The package includes the following products Capacity of 20x tracking devices with all materials to analyse 20 players at the same time. Live usage, update, upgrade and maintenance of the Cloud and Software for 36 months. The total investment for this device is $17,500 US. The other unique feature of Catapult vision analysis is an end-to-end video analysis platformance designed to improve the efficiency of coach’s and player’s performance insights. From video capture and personalised tagging, to import data and dynamic presentation, Vision improves speed to insight and enables one to deliver clear, powerful coaching messages. They can review previous games, analysing their opponents and scouting potential players. Vision has all the tools they need to inform decisions with compelling video analysis. Vision optimizes the video capture process in both live and post-game environments. In live scenarios, Vision allows them to tag and review clips as we capture footage in real-time. Post-game, they can import media regardless of format, add multiple games to a single project, then export or present the footage that best supports the information when needed to transfer someone.
