Nimeshi an athletic star in the making

Nimeshi Gunawardena, 11 year old student of Girls High School,Kandy became the only Athlete from a Kandy School to secure the second place in the under 12 age category in both 60 Metre. and 100 Metres races at the All Island Games in the year 2019 held at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo. She repeated her outstanding performances when she came second once more at the Sir John Tarbat Junior Championship held in the same year at the same venue.

Nimeshi is a member of the Under 12 Relay team of Girls High School,Kandy and they emerged second in the 4 x 50 M. relay and again they ended up third at the 4 x 100 M. relay event at the All Island School Games held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in the year 2019.

Her Coach Chandana Abeyratne told this correspondent that she is a highly talented Athlete who will do very well in the future.

Nimeshi is also a bright student in School and an outstanding Athlete who will bring honour to her School and she is thankful to her Coach as well as the Principal , Malkanthi Abeygunasekera, the POG, Thanuja Gunasinghe and Teacher-in-charge, Priyani Dissanayake of the School for encouraging the sports loving students of Girls High School,Kandy.
