Charuka Peiris a cricketing star in the making

Second year player, right hand middle order batsman, right arm off spinner, safe fielder, and coloursman Charuka Kalhara Peiris has performed well during his cricket career at Sri Sumangala College, Panadura.

Charuka commenced his schooling at Sri Sumangala College and in the year 2014 as a nine year old player he was selected to the under 13 team and his first year itself he scored 180 runs and claimed 35 wickets. In his second year he got 224 runs and 16 scalps and in his third year in four outings he scored 67 runs and bagged 12 wickets. In his final year he was the Vice Captain of the team and scored 285 runs and took 13 wickets.

Under Mr. Ranasinghe in the under 15 first year he scored 153 runs and took 13 wickets and in his second year he collected 248 runs and claimed 18 wickets and he was the Vice Captain of the team. and was selected to the Kalutara District Team for the Prima Cup and he represented the Western Province South Outer team too.

As an under 15 player Charuka was selected for the first eleven team and in his first year in 2018/19 he was able to take 17 scalps and in 2019/20 season he played only in eight matches and scored 157 runs and bagged eight wickets. In his first year itself he was selected for their Big Match against their arch rivals Moratu Vidyalaya and in the following year too he played in the Big Match and the limited over match and Sumangalians beat Vidyalians.

Charuka got selected for the 80 member Sri Lanka Development Squad which was later reduced to 30 members
