Skipper Avishka Perera helped Nalanda College Colombo qualify to quarter finals of the Under 19 Division One inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament.

Right hand batsman of Nalanda College Colombo passed 1000 runs milestone in the season. Wicket keeper batsman Avishka Perera scored 1161 runs in 14 matches (22 innings) with 4 centuries and 8 half centuries in this season.

Avishka Perera represented college under 13 Cricket ‘C’ team (Division 3) in 2012. He represented college under 13 Cricket ‘A’ team in 2013. He led the under 13 Cricket ‘A’ team and qualified to the quarterfinal in 2014.

He was acting vice captain of the under 15 ‘B’ team and qualified to the semifinals in 2015. He represented Colombo district under 15 team for Prima Champions Cup in the same year. He was a member of the under 15 Western province team in the provincial Prima Champions Cup in 2015.

He led the college under 15 ‘A’ team and won the championship for the first time in Nalanda College history in 2016. He was vice captain of Colombo district team in the Prima Champions Cup in the same year. He represented Western province under 15 team for the provincial Prima Champions Cup in 2016. He was the second highest scorer in the tournament. He represented the under 15 Sri Lanka National squad to Malaysia and won the championship in the same year.

He represented the college 1st XI team in 2016/17 season. He scored a century in the debut match against Dharmapala College Pannipitiya (109). He represented Battle of the Maroons and one day encounter and was adjudicated the Best Fielder in the one day encounter in 2017. He was deputy skipper of the under 16 Sri Lanka National Team during the England under 16 tour of Sri Lanka and led the team in the final match.

He represented the under 17 division 1 team and the team came up to the semifinals in 2017. He was the highest run scorer of the tournament. He won the school colours for cricket. Avishka represented Battle Of the Maroons and one day in 2018. He represented Western province team in the under 19 provincial tournament and won the championship.

He represented the Battle of the Maroons and one day encounter in 2019. Avishka Perera scored 120 runs and became the Man of the Match and Best Batsman in the big match and the fastest century in Ananda - Nalanda Battle of the Maroons history. Avishka was deputy skipper in the Nalanda college under 19 team. He passed 1000 runs in the season with 3 centuries and 3 half centuries (Average 52.84) in the 2018/19 season. Avishka Perera selected for the under 19 Sri Lankan squad. He represented Lankan CC for the domestic premier league tier ‘B’ 3 day tournament in 2018/19 season and then won the tier ‘B’ championship.

Avishka Perera led Nalanda College 1st XI Cricket team in the season 2019/20. Nalanda College team qualified to the quarter final round in the ongoing tournament when the covid 19 break. He represented the province team in the under 19 super provincial cricket tournament organized by SLC. Avishka Perera selected for the Sri Lanka under 19 Cricket team and played against Bangladesh under 19 Cricket team (Youth test match) in Bangladesh. Avishka Perera led the Nalanda team to win Sir Henry Steel Olcott Cricket tournament and became the Best Batsman and the Man of the Series in year 2019. He represented Sri Lanka under 19 cricket team during mercantile Division ‘A’ cricket tournament in 2019. Avishka Perera was awarded the trophy for outstanding cricket of the year in the school. Avishka Perera won the Batsman.com most popular schoolboy cricketer award.

Nalanda College played matches Nalanda Nalanda won eight matches from 17 matches. They lost only one match against Trinity College Kandy.

Sri Lanka Youth cap and skipper Avishka Perera passed 1000 runs milestone in this season with 4 centuries.He made centuries against Dharmapala (117), S. Thomas’, Mt. Lavinia (104), Mahinda (114) and St. Sebastian’s (117).

Nalanda Colombo beat St. Sylvester’s Kandy, Gurukula Kelaniya and Dharmashoka Ambalangoda. They lost against Trinity College Kandy. Nalanda Colombo was group champion in group ‘C’. Nalanda Colombo qualified to the quarter final. YK
