Antonian Kaveesha Dulanjana a fine all-rounder

Fourth year player, all rounder and Vice Captain of the first eleven cricket team 2019/20 of St. Anthonys College, Wattala Chandra Dorage Kaveesha Dulanjana is a middle order left hand batsman and a left arm leg spinner and has performed well in the just concluded cricket season and the Antonians participated in eleven inter school matches. They were down to play in the inter school limited over tournament cricket match but it was postponed due to the present prevailing situation in the country.

He commenced his first eleven cricket career in 2016/17 and claimed 23 wickets with the best being 5 for 73 against Dharmaraja and scored 150 runs in that season and in 2017/18 he bagged 33 wickets including two five wickets hauls and collected 230 runs. In the following year he scored 285 runs with a fifty and took 36 wickets with three five wickets hauls. He excelled in the 2019/20 season by claiming 57 wickets with four five wickets hauls and scored 391 runs with 60 runs being the highest against Lumbini Vidyalaya. In under 19 limited over tournament they beat Maliyadeva and Dharmaraja to qualify for quarters. In the last four years he has captured 149 wickets and scored 1056 runs and he has a another one year to represent his Alma Mater.

Kaveesha Dulanjana

In the year 2019/20 he represented Gampaha District in the one day tournament and his best bowling figures is 6/55 and in the Inter Provincial Tournament playing for Colombo they beat Galle and Dambulla and in the finals they beat Dambullla to clinch the trophy. He represented Old Anthonians Cricket Club in Sara Trophy in ten matches and claimed 24 wickets and scored 215 runs. Presently he is attending practices to represent the Burgher Recreation Club to participate in the under 23 tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.

He commenced his cricket career playing soft ball with his class mates during leisure time and later he attended practices at the school in under 13 division three and got selected to the team in 2012.

His first coach was Mr. Lahiru and against Batuwatta Maha Vidyalaya he bagged 8 for 90 runs and in 2013 representing the same age he captured 20 wickets and scored 210 runs and in the following year took 26 scalps and collected 273 runs with the best being 93 runs versus Harischandra Vidyalaya, Negombo.

When he came to the under 15 team his coach . Lahiru advised him to take up to left arm leg spin. and in his first year he captured 16 wickets and got 245 runs. Playing in the under 14 MCA Tournament they came up to Semi Finals. In his second year in under 15 he scored 293 runs and captured 24 wickets and played for the Prima Cup and for the Provincial Team .

When playing for under 17 in the year 2017 he came under Sarfraz Farook and in his first year Kaveesha claimed 10 wickets and scored 170 runs and his final year in the Under 17 he scored 290 runs and took 17 wickets and his school came up to the quarter finals and lost to Sebs. While playing for the under 17 in his first year he was selected to the first eleven team. A special mention should be made of his Principal Rev. Fr. Mal Fernando and Master in Charge for cricket Rev. Fr. Ruwan Chathuranga and the teachers and his parents who were always supporting him to come up the ladder.
