The Ampara District Sports Festival -2020 that was put on hold halfway due to Covid 19 pandemic is to be held in September 2020 said Ampara District Secretariat Sports Officer M.I.M.Ameer Ali.
Major games which is part of the Sports Festival was in progress when the Covid 19 spread began.
The Ampara District Secretariat Sports Officer M.I.M.Ameer Ali has instructed all Sports Officers attached to Divisional Secretariats in the district to complete the divisional level sports meet before end of August 2020.
Table tennis, badminton, chess, carrom, rugby, basket ball, beach volleyball, kabaddi and karate (mens’ and womens’ divisions) are completed and cricket, football, volleyball, swim and elle are to be completed.
Here are the final results of the major games of the Ampara District Sports Festival -2020 held in Sammanthurai Presidential Sports Complex , South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL), Oluvil play ground, Karathivu play ground and Karathivu beach ground.
Table Tennis
Champion – Akkaraipattu DS division. Runner-up - Nintavur DS division.
Badminton
Champion – Sammanthurai DS division, Runner-up - Kalmunai (Muslim) DS division.
Chess
Champion – Kalmunai (Muslim) DS division. Runner-up - Sainthamaruthu DS division
Carrom
Champion – Akkaraipattu DS division. Runner-up - Sammanthurai DS division.
Rugby
Champion – Champion – Addalaichnai DS division. Runner-up - Sainthamaruthu DS division.
Basketball
Champion – Karathivu DS division. Runner-up - Kalmunai (Tamil) DS division.
Beach Volleyball
Champion – Dehiyatakandy DS division. Runner-up - Kalmunai (Tamil) DS division.
Kabaddi
Champion – Nintavur DS division. Runner-up - Addalaichenai DS division.
Karate. (Mens’ division)
Champion – Alayadivembu DS division. Runner-up - Ampara DS division.
Karate. (Womens’ division)
Champion – Ampara DS division. Runner-up - Alayadivembu DS division.
