Lankan cricket stars involved in charity work

Past greats Muthiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene are all involved in charity work to fight Covid-19.

Many Sri Lankan cricketers have taken part in charity work and distributed essential goods to the under privileged families around the country who are suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Legendary spinner Muthiah Muralitharan has made a contribution of Rs. five million to the Presidential Task Force in their efforts to fight the Covid-19 epidemic.

Former Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal has also taken the initiative to distribute dry rations to 60 families in the Thalangama Grama Seva Division.

The members of the national cricket team donated generously to buy equipment needed for the General Hospital to treat Covid-19 patients. Former greats Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene teamed up to give away dry rations and other essentials while fast bowler Suranga Lakmal visited the Dambulla area to give away dry rations to those in need.

Another Sri Lanka fast bowler Dhammika Prasad has been involved in the Gampaha and Colombo districts. Last week, he distributed dry rations for one week among 1000 families and this week he has widened the network by targetting 2000 families.
