Sri Lanka cricket team on Sunday made a financial grant to the Homagama Base Hospital, to buy Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE) for its health staff.
The national team led by skipper Dimuth Karunaratne made this donation following a request made by the hospital, which is operated as a treatment center for Covid-19 suspected patients.
According to the hospital, the Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE) will be used by the health staff, directly in contact with the suspected Covid-19 patients.
The donation was handed over to Dr. Janitha Hettiarachchi, Medical Superintendent of the Homagama Base Hospital by skipper Karunaratne.
“It is our duty as sports personalities to come forward at this moment of time to help the country, which needs contribution from every corner to fight this deadly virus,” said Karunaratne.
A few days ago, the cricket team made a financial grant to the Colombo General Hospital to buy a video Laryngoscope, which is primary medical equipment used to treat Covid-19 patients.
In addition, the national players are constantly supporting the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic via their social media platforms requesting fans to remain safe.
