Parkinson stakes claim for Test place

England’s 23-year-old uncapped right-arm leg-spinner Matt Parkinson made an early claim for a Test place when he captured four wickets 68 runs off 17 overs to send the Sri Lanka Cricket XI spinning to 245 all out in reply to England’s first innings of 316 on the second day of the 3-day warm-up match played at Katunayake yesterday.

By the close England who had a first innings lead of 71 had extended it to 110 by scoring 39 for one.

SLC XI skipper Ashan Priyanjan top scored for the local team with a patient 77 off 126 balls (11 fours). The match continues on its final day today.
