Arthur will replace deposed head coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

Sri Lanka Cricket have also roped in the services of Zimbabwe’s Grant Flower (batting coach), and Australians David Saker (bowling coach) and Shane McDermott (fielding coach) to join Arthur in the team rebuilding following the poor performances of the national team in the 2019 World Cup.
