Old Cambrian ‘Berta’ dies

Old Cambrian sportsman Bertrand Mendis popularly known among his friends as ‘Berta’ died at the

age of 69 years after a brief illness. He had his entire education at Prince of Wales’ College, Moratuwa and whilst at school he was an athlete and a Junior Cadet. He is the younger brother of our Moratuwa Sports Special

Correspondent Dilwin Mendis. After leaving school he joined Sri Lanka Navy.

Later he served in the United Arab Emirates. Funeral arrangements will be notified later.
