Mihiranga pilots Sri Sumangala to victory

A fine all round performance of 117 runs and a match bag of 9 for 47 (4/11 and 5/36) by Mihiranga Fernando of Sri Sumangala College Panadura helped them to defeat St. Mary’s College Kegalle by innings and 69 runs in their inter school first eleven cricket match worked off at Kegalle. Incidentally this is their second game for the 2019/20 cricket season and they drew against Tholangamuwa Central in their first outing.

Batting first Kegalle Marians were bowled out for 110 runs and skipper Anuka Jayasinghe claimed 4 for 16 and in reply Sumangalains declared at 325 for 7 with Chanaka Jayatilleke scoring 83 runs and in their second essay homesters did much better to score 145 runs with Kushan Banuka scoring 87 runs and Anuka Jayasinghe captured 5 for 36 to have a match bag of 9 for 42 runs.

St. Mary’s 110 in 33.5 overs Kushan Banuka 28, Akalanka Pethiyagoda 25, Mihiranga Fernando 4/11, Anuka Jayasinghe 4/16 and 145 Kushan Banuka 87, Akalanka Pethiyagoda 23, Anuka Jayaisinghe 5/26, Mihiranga Fernando 5.36.

Sri Sumangala 325/7 de in 39.1 overs Mihiranga Fernando 117, Tharna de Silva 64, Chanaka Jayatilleke 83, Imesh Ganepola 20, Waruna Udara 2/23, Nadeeka Kasthuriarachchi 2/45.
