Udaya Ranasinghe of Vidyartha Old boys sports club and Ishara Madurangi of Sri Lanka Ports Authority emerged open men’s and women’s champions at the All Island open ranking Table Tennis championships held at the S. Thomas Gymnasium recently. Ranasinghe who came from USA after a successful training period defeated Nirmala Jayasinghe of MAS Intimates 4-2 after a closely contested final while Madurangi best Erandi Earusawithana of Sri Lanka Army 4-1 in the women’s final.
Anandian 14 year old Senura Silva the elder son of former National champion Deepika Rodrigo and Indika Prasad also gave superb performances to clinch a double by winning under 15 and under 18 titles respectively. This tournament was conducted by Colombo district TTA in collaboration with the State Services Table Tennis Association. Malika Madushani former National champion Namal Gunasekara former National coach Mahinda Ellepola and former National player and coach W A Buddhasiri distributed the awards after the finals.

Women’s Singles: Ishara Madurangi of Sri Lanka Ports Authority beat Erandi Warusavithana of Sri Lanka Army – 11/07, 11/09, 11/03, 17/19, 11/09.
