A splendid 102 runs by Madushan Peris helped Siri Piyarathne Vidyalaya Padukka to defeat Devapathiraja College by innings and 44 runs in their first outing of the under 19 inter-school cricket season played at Balapitiya.
Madushan hit seven fours and six sixes and occupied the crease for 196 minutes and faced 153 balls. Also he was associated in a seventh wicket partnership of 126 runs with Kavishka Dananjaya who scored 60 runs.
This year Siri Piayrathne is coached by Susila Gunawardena and his assistant is Nadun Hewanayake.
Batting first Siri Piyarathne scored 279 runs and in reply Devapathiraja were dismissed for 97 runs with Kavinda Ishwara claiming 4 for 13 and following on Devapthiraja scored 138 runs with Kavinda Ishwara capturing 7 for 56 to make a match bag of 11 for 69 runs.
