Pottuvil Central College (National School) won the All Island School Cricket Championship under-20 title held at Giriulla Wickramashila National School Playground on October 13. Batticaloa Methodist Central College (National School) was the runner - up.
The All Island School Cricket Championship was held as a part of All Island School Games-2019.
This school cricket tournament organized by the Education Ministry while several National SchoolBoys Under 20 cricket teams participated in this competition.
Pottuvil Central College students had to face a big challenge in competing with Debarawewa National School in the quarter final and Medirigiriya National School in the semi final during the final rounds.
Pottuvil Central College beat Debarawewa National School by 11 runs in the quarter final played at Elebodagama Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya play grounds.
Pottuvil Central College beat last year’s runner up Medirigiriya National School in the semi final.
Batticaloa Methodist Central College (National School) Team bat first and scored 37 runs in the 08 over’s for the loss of 9 wickets. In reply Pottuvil Central College team, scored 42 runs in the 4.2 over’s for loss of 3 wickets.
Pottuvil Central College team players are lucky to have the services of its Physical Education Teacher and Coach M.M.Asmy who is the strength behind their success.
They were awarded certificates, medals and trophy by Education Ministry officials.
